Since the 18th CPC National Congress, Hunan Province has fully promoted the development of the red culture and agricultural resources and integrated them with tourism. Now the old revolutionary base areas have taken on a new look thanks to the integrated development of agriculture, red culture and tourism.
The story of “Half of the Quilt” happened in Shazhou Yao Village, Wenming Yao Township, Rucheng County, Chenzhou City. “Ten years ago, the young people thought the roads, houses and lights in the village were all terrible,” said Zhu Shiwei, the owner of a night snack bar.
“The village used to be remote, poor and backward, so the young people who had gone out were reluctant to come back,” said Zhu Xiangqun, secretary of the Party branch of Shazhou Village.
“After the conference held in 2016 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Long March by the Red Army, the story of ‘Half of the Quilt’ was spread across the country, making the village known as a ‘Red Village’,” he added.
In the summer of 2017, Zhu Shiwei, who had been working outside, returned to Shazhou Village and opened the first night snack bar in the village.
“Last year was a bumper year for me. My business was booming and I found a girlfriend. It’s pretty happy to make money in my hometown,” said Zhu Shiwei.
Nowadays, the neat and clean houses and lanes can be seen in Shazhou Village. The green tiles, white walls, bridges and lucid waters all make the village a beautiful and attractive place.
The village is now promoting the integrated development of agriculture and tourism, which can make sure that more than 400 local villagers can find jobs or start their own businesses in the village.
